Serengeti

Tanzania

"It is a place where you can feel the pulse of the Earth, the rhythm of life that has been playing out for millions of years."  – Bernhard Grzimek

Serengeti is synonymous with safari and immediately conjures up those iconic images that are seared into our collective psyche as representative of Africa. This is ironic because the Serengeti is unique –there is no other place like it in Africa.

And even within Serengeti there exists the equally unique Ngorongoro Crater – the original Garden of Eden that is a zoological paradise with no equal.

Seeing the savannah heave and sway with the collective movement of uncountable wildebeest defies description. It fills the eye from horizon to horizon and it punctuates the air with the monotonous ‘gnuu’ing’ of innumerable voices.

As its centrepiece, The Great Migration of the Serengeti is in perpetual motion as three million animals spend a year to complete a circular journey that follows rain and green pasture. Last Chance Safaris likes to do the same and consequently we select partners who move with the herds – setting up temporary camps throughout the year that allow easy access to wherever the action is.
