Our Mission; Your Impact

At Last Chance Safaris, our mission started way before offering unparalleled wilderness experiences. Because we explore, and indeed live in, the wild spaces of Africa, we are deeply committed to preserving them and the threatened wildlife they harbour.

Embarking on one of our Expeditions means your tourism dollars will contribute to social and conservation programs throughout your safari. All our partners are carefully selected for the work they do behind the scenes, and on the ground, both in conservation and in uplifting local communities.

This means that your ‘safari buck’ contributes DIRECTLY to established and well managed projects in the areas that you visit. Where possible we will introduce you to these conservation trojans to witness the work they do first hand.

Our hope is to create an awareness that will tweak at your philanthropy strings.... even more, because every one of our private-guided expeditions has a built-in donation that is paid over to selected and vetted organisations on your behalf.

Our Three Conservation Pillars:

Wildlife Protection

The wilderness areas we explore are there because of the work done by an army of wildlife warriors. We actively support registered NGO’s that manage successful anti-poaching units, wildlife rehabilitation centres and wildlife relocation/breeding programs in these areas. Often their work revolves around a single endangered species like rhino or pangolin or vultures, but the knock-on effect to all wildlife is immense.

Habitat Restoration

Loss of habitat is possibly the single greatest threat to biodiversity. Our expeditions are planned around those destinations where the wilderness is growing because of local efforts to reclaim and restore habitats. These efforts expand wildlife ranges, increase biodiversity, and open corridors that link protected areas, often across international borders.

Community Engagement

Without the support of local communities any conservation effort is dead in the water. The people who live alongside protected areas contend with wildlife daily, quite often in a negative way. Their buy-in to conservation initiatives rests on the positive economic and educational benefits that emanate from tourism and tourist philanthropy. We support businesses, organisations, schools and programs that focus on providing such upliftment in the areas that we explore.
